Organized By: We the People of Gladwin County

A message from one of the organizers:
"There is a charge of $20.00 per plate. You receive a dinner ticket. After the debate the tickets are deposited into a candidates container of your choice. $8.50 goes to the house for dinner, the remainder gets paid to the candidates. People can come, sit in, and not participate in the dinner/fundraiser if they wish. We had a candidate approach us about fund raising. We thought this would be a fair method."

"Let's fill the place! Show the candidates we are awake!"

  • Obama's New Defense Guidance
The U.S. dramatically reduced defense spending after the Cold War. Since then, the military has been living off the build-up under Ronald Reagan. Defense increases after 9/11 were largely spent on 10 years of operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, not modernization or recapitalizing forces (i.e., new planes, ships, or weapon systems). Today, the military is in dire need of repair, not another “peace dividend.”
  • Obamacare: Obama Ends Medicare As We Know It
Obamacare makes massive changes to Medicare. Obamacare contains more than 160 provisions to the program that increases government’s control over the delivery of care, hits doctors with unsustainable payment cuts, and leaves taxpayers with higher deficits.
  • NEW START TREATY: Little to Show One Year Later
Congress as an institution needs to come together in a commitment to mitigate and reverse damage caused by New START.

  • Library & French Archive Exchange Cinema & TV Treasures
The Library of Congress and the French Institut National de l'Audiovisuel (INA), in an unprecedented collaboration, will exchange up to 500 hours of digitized film and television content over the next three years, reflecting how the United States and France have been portrayed in each other's media.
  • Junior Fellows Summer Internships Available
This summer the Library of Congress once again is offering special 10-week paid internships to college students. For a stipend of $3,000, the 2011 class of Junior Fellows Summer Interns will work full-time from May 29 through Aug. 3.
